A crowd of 150 fans gathered at the Council Hall to listen to the International Bestselling Author talk about how he got his start, his inspirations behind his blockbuster books and reveal a little about his upcoming books.

Afterwards, Reilly stayed back to meet his fans, sign books and take photos.

Meet the Author – Fred Watson – Star-Craving Mad from a travelling Astronomer

Australia’s best known astronomer, Fred Watson,  takes us on a journey through time and space. Fred knows all about the madness that drives people to understand the Universe and unlock its secrets.

And just what are those secrets?

Where did we come from? How did our planet get to be the way it is? What will happen to it in the end? And, perhaps, the biggest question of all: are we alone , or are there other living organisms beyond the Earth?

Professor Fred Watson has been an Astronomer in charge of the Australian Astronomical Observatory since 1995. In addition to his academic career, Fred has helped to popularise astronomy and space science through broadcasts, talks and other outreach programs, winning the 2006 Australian Government Eureka  Prize for Promoting Understanding of Science.

Your Bookshop Christmas Party

2012 Christmas Party

On Monday, December 10, 2012, Your Bookshop team celebrated their year with a Christmas bash at Peroni's Restaurant in Parramatta.

It was a bittersweet evening for even as we celebrated the successful opening of two new stores, we also farewelled our business partner and co-founder of YB bookstores, Barry Araghi, who announced his retirement.

His partners, Mark and Kamal both gave moving speeches, thanking the staff for their hard work throughout the year. In his speech Kamal thanked Barry for years of friendship which went back to their university days in England during the 1960's. At the conclusion of the speeches, they presented Barry with a parting gift on behalf of the staff.

Janella Purcell

Your Bookshop in conjunction with Five Dock Library, hosted an evening with naturopath, nutritionist and chef, Janella Purcell.
Janella talked about using healthier alternatives to the foods we commonly eat. She showed examples of her recipes and where to source the products. Afterwards, she stayed back to chat to the audience and sign copies of her books.
