About Me

My photo
I am passionate about the written language. I love writing, reading, reviewing, selling and promoting books. I am an independent bookseller with over 20 years of experience in the book trade. Together with my partners, I actively aim to improve our bookstore's range and services to better reflect the needs of our community and clientele. In 2008, my memoir 'Under A Starless Sky' was published by Hachette, Australia. Since then, I had a short story 'Jasmine Petals' published in 'Stories of Belonging' (Finch) and in 2013, released my first full-length novel, The Russian Tapestry, also by Hachette. I am currently writing my second novel. I strive daily to improve my skills and stretch the limits of my craft. My love of books has naturally lead to reviewing. Sydney Writers' Festival 2014 #swf2014

Our first taste of what was to come at this year's Sydney Writers' Festival came with an invitation to the launch of the festival's Western Sydney program at Female Orphan School, University of Western City - Parramatta campus. Artistic Director, Jemma Birrell announced some of the festival highlights scheduled for Western Sydney, including events by Christos Tsiolkas, Dav Pilkey, Alexis Wright and Alive Walker at Riverside Theatre, Parramatta.

As part of the program, Ryde Library hosted two events by best-selling authors, David Hunt and journalist Paul Barry. Both nights, Your Bookshop was there as the bookseller for the events.

David Hunt gave a highly entertaining talk on an alternative history of Australia, not taught in our schools.

David Hunt with his best-selling book, Girt
Paul Barry's talk on the News of The World phone hacking scandal had the audience gasping at the lengths Murdoch's British tabloids abused their subjects' privacy.

The Writers' Festival is always an exciting time for book lovers. This year was no different with 300 events and 400 participants merging for a week of writing and ideas that left us inspired, entertained and connected.

Happy Reading.

Lee Holmes events with Your Bookshop

Lee's latest book, Eat Yourself Beautiful is a guide to achieving inner and outer health and ageless beauty through simple, delicious recipes using nutritionally rich, anti- inflammatory 'super' foods. Many of the dishes in this inspiring and practical book are gluten, wheat, yeast and sugar-free. Also included are beauty-friendly menu plans and shopping lists; advice on what foods to avoid; how to detox and information on how to identify hidden food sensitivities, allergies and inflammation.
