On Wednesday July 23rd
Your Bookshop and Ryde Library hosted a Sold Out event with oral historian, Tim Bowden.
Stubborn Buggers is the true account of Australian POWs at Outram Road Gaol - a military prison that made Changi look like heaven. The Outram story has tended to slip through the cracks when set against the Sandakan Death Marches and slave labour of Thai Burma Railway due to relatively few Australian prisoners who were held there.
In an amazing turn of events, during the question time we realised Bill Young, the youngest POW to survive Outram and whose paintings are featured in the book, was in the audience.
